Everyone is up once or twice, one after the other. Two terms form a scale from left to right. The person who is up sees a secret target on the scale and writes a short hint that sits exactly there for them, for example “fax machine” for “pointless” to “essential”. Everyone else sees the hint and sets their needle where they think the target is.
How are points counted?
If your needle is at most 4 from the target, you get 3 points. Up to 10 earns 2 points, up to 17 earns one. Whoever gave the hint gets the average of the others, rounded to whole points. A clear hint pays off. The highest total after the last round wins.
What can I write as a hint?
A short word or phrase of at most 40 characters. Numbers and phrases like “far left” are not allowed. The game does not check this, so please stick to it.
Does everyone need a phone?
No. Pass one device around and tap “Give hint” or “Set needle” next to your name while the others look away. Players with their own phone can join by invitation link or QR code. The host can play too.
How do I set the needle?
Drag with a finger or the mouse anywhere on the dial. “−” and “+” move the needle in single steps, and a long press repeats the step. On a keyboard use the arrow keys. You can submit once you have moved the needle.
How long does a game take?
Choose “Everyone once” or “Everyone twice”, with about two minutes per round. Play with 2–12 people, it is more fun with three or more.
