How a turn works
On your turn you roll six dice and set aside at least one scoring die. Then you choose: roll the remaining dice again or bank the points collected so far. If a roll has no scoring dice, the turn ends and its points are lost.
Scoring
| Dice | Points |
|---|---|
| single 1 | 100 |
| single 5 | 50 |
| three 1s | 1,000 |
| three of a kind (2 to 6) | face × 100 |
| four of a kind | 1,000 |
| five of a kind | 2,000 |
| six of a kind | 3,000 |
| straight 1 to 6 | 1,500 |
| three pairs (including four of a kind plus a pair) | 1,500 |
| two triplets | 2,500 |
Combinations only count within a single roll. A 5 from your first roll and two 5s from your second do not make three of a kind. If dice can be counted in more than one way, the calculator picks the highest: four 1s count as three 1s plus a single 1, so 1,100 instead of 1,000.
Variants and house rules
The common differences can be set under "Players and rules":
- Double for each extra die: four of a kind is worth twice three of a kind, and each further die doubles again. Four 3s are 600, five 3s are 1,200.
- Opening minimum: your first banked turn needs a minimum score, often 350, 500 or 1,000.
- Three-farkle penalty: three farkles in a row cost 1,000 points.
- Target score: for shorter games, for example 5,000.
For other games with points per round, the score keeper lets you set the rules yourself.
FAQ
How does the dice calculator work?
After each roll, tap the dice you want to set aside. The calculator checks that every one of them scores and shows the best way to count them. "Set aside" adds the points to your turn and counts down the remaining dice. "Bank" writes the turn points to the sheet.
What happens on a farkle?
If a roll contains no scoring dice at all, you lose every point from the current turn. Tap "Farkle (0)" and the next player goes.
What are hot dice?
When all six dice have scored, you may pick them all up and keep rolling while holding on to your turn points. The calculator resets to six dice automatically.
How does the game end?
The first player to reach the target score starts the last round. Everyone else gets exactly one more turn. Then the highest total wins.
Is Farkle the same as 10,000?
Mostly. Both names refer to the six-dice game where ones, fives and combinations score and the usual goal is 10,000 points. The values for four or more of a kind and for special combinations differ between groups. The common variants can be set in the score sheet.
Is my game saved?
Yes, even a turn in progress stays saved in your browser. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server.
