Wizard® card game scoring

Enter the bids in turn, then the tricks after the round. Points, dealer and number of rounds are tracked for you.

How a round works

In the first round each player gets one card, and one more in every round after that. Once the cards are dealt, everyone bids how many tricks they will take. After the hand is played, all that counts is whether the bid was exact.

  1. Tap the highlighted box and choose the bid. The sheet moves on to the next player.
  2. After the hand, tap again and enter the tricks. For the last player the number is already fixed, since all tricks are accounted for.
  3. The sheet scores the round and passes the deal to the next player.

Number of rounds

The deck has 60 cards. The game ends once a round uses up all of them: after 20 rounds with 3 players, 15 with 4, 12 with 5 and 10 with 6.

Variant

Under "Players and rules" you can require that the bids may not add up. The last bidder then cannot pick a number that makes the total of all bids equal the number of cards.

FAQ

How many rounds are played?

That depends on the number of players, because all 60 cards are dealt in the last round: 20 rounds with 3 players, 15 with 4, 12 with 5 and 10 with 6. The score sheet sets the number of rounds for you.

How does scoring work?

If you take exactly as many tricks as you bid, you score 20 points plus 10 per trick. If you miss, you lose 10 points for each trick of difference, whether you took too many or too few.

What does "bids may not add up" mean?

In this popular variant, the total of all bids may not equal the number of cards in the round, so at least one player will miss. The score sheet then blocks the number for the last bidder that would make the total match.

In what order do players bid?

The player to the left of the dealer bids first and the dealer bids last. The score sheet asks for bids in that order and shows who is dealing.

Can I fix a mistake?

Yes. "Undo" takes back the last bid or trick count, even across the end of a round.

Is my game saved?

Yes. The game stays saved in your browser. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server.
