How a leg works

Each player starts on 501 and throws three darts per visit. The total is subtracted from the score left. The first player to reach exactly 0 wins the leg. Under double out the last dart must be a double or the bull.

For the game played on 15 to 20 and the bull, use the Cricket scorer.

FAQ

What is double out?

The last dart of a leg has to hit a double, the outer ring, or the bull. Reaching 0 with a single is a bust. After a finish, the scorer asks which dart checked out.

When is a visit a bust?

When the score would drop below 0, and under double out also when exactly 1 is left or 0 is not reached on a double. The visit does not count and the score stays where it was.

Where do the checkout suggestions come from?

For every score up to 170 the scorer looks for a route with as few darts as possible, preferring common doubles such as D20, D16 or D8. 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169 have no three-dart checkout.

Why can I not enter 179?

Some totals below 180 cannot be scored with three darts: 163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178 and 179. The scorer rejects them so typos do not slip in.

How is the average calculated?

Points scored divided by darts thrown, times three. Busted visits count as three darts and 0 points.
